Virginia Ann Enis Robey Tonnessen, age 89, of Milton, Florida, passed away Monday March 2, 2020.

Virginia was born in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, to Alma and Martin Enis on December 24, 1930. She was the oldest of their four children, and was a graduate of Chelmsford (Massachusetts) High School. Virginia was a Navy wife and lived in Milton since 1970. She was a loving wife and mother. She was a caregiver at Santa Rosa Medical Center for many years; and a devoted member of Eternal Trinity Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Donald Enis; her husband, Robert Robey, Sr.; and two sons, David Robey and James Robey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry Tonnessen.

Virginia is survived by her sisters, Elizabeth Libby of Melvin Village, New Hampshire, Carol Simpson of Ossippee, New Hampshire; her sister-in-law, Joy Enis of Chelmsford, Massachusetts; her children, Robert and Dodie Robey, Jr of Wichita Falls, Texas, Katherine and Robert Black of Fertile, Minnesota, John Robey of Milton, Florida, Richard and Noel Robey of Westminster, Maryland, Steven and Jennifer Robey of Milton, Florida, William and Maryann Robey of Milton, Florida; her step-children, Roger Tonnessen of Milton, Florida, Dorothy Ireland of Jacksonville, Florida; twelve grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, March 9, 2020, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel (6405 Hwy. 90 West, Milton, Florida 32570). Interment will be held in Barrancas National Cemetery, onboard Pensacola Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida.

Visitation will be held prior to the services; family visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., and public visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

To the doctors, nurses and the entire staff of Sandy Ridge Health and Rehabilitation, thank you for the many years of excellent care of our mother; also, thank you to the staff of Emerald Coast Hospice for their care and support in her final days.

The family requests memorial donations, be made in Mrs. Tonnessen’s name to Emerald Coast Hospice at 5536 Stewart St. Milton, FL 32570.
