Obituary

Scott M. Parker, 46, of Milton, Florida, passed away Monday, February 10, 2020.

Scott was born on Mather AFB in California. He is the only child of Master Sergeant (Retired) Devin Parker and JoAnn Parker. He lived many places but grew up mostly in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, which he considered home. Scott’s first duty station was Beale AFB, California, where he married Tara Mills. He loved to joke that, “She’s the best wife I ever had”. He was immensely proud of their three children and his face lit up when he talked about them.

He earned a BS in Environmental Science from Trident University International just prior to retiring from the US Air Force where he proudly served and retired as a Master Sergeant after 23 years. In that time Scott traveled the world and had many incredible experiences. He became dive qualified and dove in the waters of Okinawa. He was certified as an EMT. He flew missions with the Navy Seals. He became an expert in survival techniques which led to his love of knives and an eventual knife making business which he named “Parker Bladeworks”. He mentored countless airmen and was a beloved supervisor. He was also a member of Christian Life Church.

Scott will be forever loved and remembered by his wife of 26 years, Tara; and their three children, Kyle (24), Ian (20) and Kacie (18); as well as, his parents, Devin and JoAnn. He will also be deeply missed and remembered by aunts, uncles, many cousins, his mother/father/brothers in law, and so many good friends who became family.

Thank you specifically to Dr Terek Eldawy, from Sacred Heart Cancer Center, for the outstanding and compassionate care you provided. You made our cancer journey easier. Thank you also to Dr Qaiser Bashir, from MD Anderson, for believing in the fight that Scott had in him.

When you think about Scott, please remember the way he made people laugh. The way he could name a song in the first few beats and tell you what year it was released. That he knew every word to Ice, Ice Baby and continuously quoted Napoleon Dynamite. Remember how he would say “I appreciate you” instead of thank you, to make sure you knew he really did appreciate you. Remember that life is short and precious, so let go of grudges and love fiercely. That’s what Scott did.

Funeral Service will be Monday, February 24, 2020, at Christian Life Church. Burial will follow services in Barrancas National Cemetery, with Lewis Funeral Home of Milton directing.

Visitation will be held 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM prior to the funeral service.
