Obituary

Philip Lee Sykes, 54, of Navarre, Florida, passed away, Monday, January 20, 2020. Phil was born in Pittsfield Massachusetts September 8, and was the youngest of 6 children born to Harry and Patricia Sykes. He attended culinary classes after graduating from Pittsfield High School. Phil managed local restaurants before starting Berkshire Heating & Air. He moved to Navarre Florida in 1992 starting Sykes Custom Home Builders before moving to commercial sales at Navarre Lumber and Lowes. He spent his last years as a handyman at East River Smokehouse. Phil was a loving husband and father and enjoyed competitive shooting, deep sea fishing, photography, his dogs Hailey and Hannah, and the Buffalo Bills. Carpentry was also a hobby of Phil’s. He constructed the family home in 2004. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry M. Sykes Jr and is survived by his wife of 29 years Dawn B. Sykes, his son Devin J.R. Sykes, and his mother Patricia A. Wright. His brothers; Harry Sykes III, John Sykes, Jesse Sykes and sisters; Susan Boibeaux and Nancy Stewart.

The Family wishes to thank the staff of Covenant Hospice for the love and care given to their husband, father, and brother, during his time of illness.

In lieu of flowers please send a donation to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation in memory of Philip Sykes.

Memorial Service to be held at 11am-4pm February 9, 2020. Please contact the family for location of service.

WORDS WILL NOT WIPE AWAY OUR TEARS. PHIL WAS AS BEAUTIFUL ON THE INSIDE AS HE WAS ON
THE OUTSIDE. HE SO LOVED HIS FAMILY. ALL OF MY MEMORIES OF PHIL ARE AWESOME. HIS DOGS
MEANT THE WORLD TO HIM. ONE OF THE LAST TIMES I TALKED TO PHIL HE TOLD ME HOW GREAT IT
WAS THAT DAN CAME OVER AND WATCHED THE GAME WITH HIM. JUST A BRIEF VISIT . IT MEANT SO MUCH TO
HIM. ALTHOUGH IT IS DIFFICULT TODAY TO SEE BEYOND THE SORROW MAY LOOKING BACK IN MEMORY
