Obituary

Mary Lou Kent Carr

On February 1, 2020, Mary Lou, age 80, passed away unexpectedly of unknown causes at her home in Holt, Florida. Mary Lou was born on April 17, 1939 in Munson, Florida.

Mary Lou was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She left her career at Monsanto in Pensacola many years ago to take care of her family. Mary Lou loved sports and was an avid sportsman. She was a former softball player and coach for many years and was very competitive. For many years she was often seen around Milton ballpark. Mary enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and quilting. She enjoyed shopping with her daughter and devoted her time to her family.

She had a special love for cooking for her family of grand boys and planned her grocery trips upon their weekend visits. She loved all her family and especially enjoyed the company of her sisters-in-law, Pat Carr and Sybil Smith; and her niece, Tina Joyner.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman E. Porter Kent and Lunia Faye (Cooley) Kent; brothers, Edward, Herman and Layton Kent; daughter, Betty Elaine Cadenhead; and her grandson, Brian Craig Barnhill.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert E. Carr Sr. of Holt; daughter, Deborah (Darrell) Barnhill of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; son, Robert Carr Jr. of Holt; grandsons, Hunter Riley Carr, Chris Holley, Buddy Alan Holly, and Wesley Barnhill; great-grandchildren, Andrea Barnhill, Gavin Barnhill, Addison Grace Holley, Ryan Cannon and Hunter Cannon.

Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 6, 2020, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 7, 2020, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. Burial will follow services at Pleasant Home Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Jimmy Smith, Roger Joyner, Larry Holland, Jeff Lewis, David Nixon and Shawn Nixon

Honorary Pallbearers: Norman Riley, Dan Henry, Roger Cadenhead, Alfred Guettler, Scott Waldrip and Richard Kent.
