John David Price, 48, of Bagdad, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2020.

John was a native and lifelong resident of Bagdad, Florida. He was employed with the Bagdad – Garcon Point Water System for over 20 years before his health caused him to retire early.

John had the true soul of an outdoors man. He loved to hunt and was an avid fisherman. He would often spend his evenings throwing the cast net at Garcon Point; catching mullet to share with family and friends. In his early years, he was involved with the family in their Dirt Track Racing times.

John was a very hard worker, and always worked very hard to provide for his family.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William F. and Passie (Richardson) Price; his maternal grandparents, Emory Jackson “Jack” and Bernice “Sister Bo” (Gill) Wiggins; aunt, Cheryl Wiggins; and an uncle, Earnest Jasper “Buddy” Wiggins.

John is survived by his daughter, Meagan D. Price (Dylan Beers); his grandson, Oaklann James Beers; his parents, William R. and Charlene (Wiggins) Price; brother, Bill (Cindy) Price; sister, Kimi (Kelly) Gillis; three nephews, Trey Price, Grey Price, and Brodie Gillis; a niece, Piper Gillis; aunt, Judy Wiggins; cousins, Tracy Wiggins, Jack (Brittany) Wiggins, and Tammy Wiggins; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Family and friends will celebrate John’s life at 2:30 p.m., on Sunday, March 1, 2020, at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel, with Rev. Mike Poston and Wesley Rutherford officiating.
The family will begin receiving friends starting at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, prior to services.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to all staff of Covenant Care Hospice for the gracious care and support they gave throughout John’s time of illness; with a very special thank you to Nurse DJ, and Social Worker, Lori.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Covenant Care Hospice “My Wish” Foundation, which John was so proud to have been a part of.
