Obituary

Darrell Eugene “Gene” Lamb, 79, of Milton, Florida, passed away on his birthday, Saturday, March 14, 2020.

Gene was born in Paris, Texas, but has been a resident of Milton for approximately 65 years. He worked here, met the love of his life here, and raised his family in this community. He spent 45 years working as a Front-End Mechanic and Tire Technician and was working at Western Auto for Kenneth and Genevieve Smith when he retired in 2003.

Gene is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann Lamb; his father, Pleas Lamb; his Mother, Lynn Johnson; and his brother, Billy Wayne Lamb.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Zala “Susie” Lamb; his son, Kevin Lamb; his daughter, Rhonda Summers (Husband Rodney); two grandchildren, Justin Summers and Jordan Summers (Fiancé’ Raven Williams); one great-granddaughter, Stella Rose Summers; three brothers, Ray Lamb of Milton, James Johnson (wife Kathy) of Monroeville, Alabama, Dorothy Hutchinson of Mobile, Alabama, and Charlie Lamb of Milton. Gene also had many nieces and nephews in Texas as well as from the Milton Area.

In light of the severity and precautions being taken by the funeral home due to the corona virus, there will be no set visitation time prior to the service.

Services, however, will begin at 2:00 p.m., at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel, on Thursday, March 19, 2020. Burial will be at Hickory Hammock Community Cemetery immediately following the service.

Some people make a difference just by being who they are. They are caring, compassionate, and kind. This was the Gene I knew.
It is my prayer that during this most difficult time God will wrap the family In his loving arms and give you all the peace and comfort that will sustain you.

I always admired Gene. He’s always been a hard working man and good provider for his family. He was always sweet and kind. I’m proud to know him and have him as family. You will be missed. Love Lana Sue Skinner
