Obituary

French Edward “Frenchie” Burke Jr., 50, of Pace, Florida, formerly of Logan, Wesst Virginia, departed this life April 19, 2020, at his residence.

He was born December 15, 1969, in Chicago, Illinois, to Gertrude (Richard) Adkins of Pace, Florida, and French Edward (Peggy) Burke Sr. of Logan, West Virginia.

Frenchie attended Logan High School and Chapmanville High School in Logan County, West Virginia. He worked offshore as an engineer for some time and was a former business owner and entrepreneur. He was most recently employed as a cable technician.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Katie Mae Burke; maternal grandparents, Ben and Della Mae Robinson; paternal grandparents, Mary Jane and French Burke; and nephews, Casey Ball and Evan Miller.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his children, Christopher Newsome (Tylah Bryant) of Chapmanville, WV, HayLee Richard (Zack Austin) of San Diego, CA, and Trey Burke of Milton, FL; ex-wife, Dena (Allen) Ates of Milton, FL; siblings, Cheryl (Mark) Grigg of Chapmanville, WV, Rebecca (Robert) Goncher of Pace, FL, Della Polacek of Pace, FL, Brandon (Jamie) Burke of Pace, FL, and Travis Burke (Melissa Hadder-Scherer) of Pace, FL, Rebecca Dawn (Tim) Clarke of Woodstock, GA, and Veronica “Cricket” Marcum of Dingess, WV; nieces and nephews, Courtney (Mitch) Bryant of Chapmanville, WV, Jennifer (John) Tinnel of Hurricane, WV, Mitchell (Lois) Grigg of Chapmanville, WV, Corey (Julie) Ball of White, GA, Daryl (Tracy) Maughon of Jasper, AL, Christopher (Carmela) Freeman of Princeton, NJ, Josie Polacek of Columbus, OH, Michael (Kaila) Burke of Orlando, FL, Felipe James (Courtney) Satterfield of Jacksonville, NC, Brandon Lee Burke Jr. of Pace, FL, Anthony Scott Burke of Pace, FL, Piper Mae Burke of Pace, FL, Caitlin Miller of Woodstock, GA, Shawn Craddock of Beckley, WV, Chase (Miranda) Workman of Lenore, WV, and Heaven Blankenship of Dingess, WV. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, family, and friends.

Honoring his wishes his remains are to be cremated and scattered on his daughter’s, Katie, grave. Memorial services are being planned at a later date in both Pace, Florida and Logan, West Virginia.
