Eleanor Ruth Hannigan, 85, of Lowell, Massachusetts, and Milton, Florida, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2019.

She was born January 21, 1934, to James W. Grant and Mary E. (Neary) Grant, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. She attended Luenburg High School and graduated in 1953. She then went on to Stevens Business School in 1954.

Eleanor married John A. Hannigan, from Tewksbury, on June 12, 1955. They were married in her hometown of Fitchburg.

During her business career, she worked for King’s Department Store in Lowell and Tewksbury for fourteen years. In later life, she worked ten years as a Special Needs Children’s school bus driver for Transportation Collaborative in Billerica, Massachusetts. In her spare time, Mrs. Hannigan enjoyed working with Cub Scout Pack 12 for nine years, and the Children Youth groups at the Laurence Street PM Church. She was a member of forty years at the Laurence Street PM Church in Lowell, Massachusetts.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Grant; her husband, John; and her son, John.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Darlene; two grandchildren, Melanie and John III; her niece, Vickie; and many other nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren; great nieces and great-nephews.

Lewis Funeral Home of Milton has been entrusted with arrangements.
