Henriette (Sayag) Baffo, born a French citizen in Casablanca, Morocco, on August 7, 1925, and a proud American, our wife, Mama, Grammy, Aunt and friend, slipped the ties of Earth and went to her heavenly home on March 25, 2019.
She was the devoted daughter of Gabriel and Myriam Sayag. She will forever be missed by her loving husband of 62 years, Sam. They met on a blind date set up by a fellow squadron member. Their first official date was a New Years Eve Party at the Officer’s Club at Nouasseur Air Force Base in Casablanca. They quickly became inseparable. It is no surprise that New Years Eve was always a special date for them. She is deeply missed by her daughters, Maureen (Allen) Coburn and Barbara (Peter) Gerhardt; and her granddaughters, Caitlin and Maura Coburn. She is also missed by her care-giver, Andrea Bermudez. She is survived by her brother, Jacques Sayag; and her sister, Yvonne Cohen. Additional survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Henriette was both fun and funny, adventurous and playful, but most of all, she loved meeting people and making new friends. She loved the camaraderie of her BINGO friends and the Red Hat Society. She travelled extensively and she was amazed by the beauty of the state parks of Georgia. She was known as a talented sewer, knitter and crocheter, but also shined in the kitchen as she baked beautiful cakes and pies.
A resident of Navarre, she enjoyed her Summer visits North to see her family and friends. She loved her home in North Andover, MA. Before moving South, she was an officer and a long-standing member of the North Andover/Andover Sons of Italy, where her cooking skills and sense of fashion were quickly recognized.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at Lewis Funeral Home (7794 Navarre Parkway, Navarre, FL 32566) for a memorial service beginning at 6:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in Henriette’s name, to Holley Navarre Senior Associates (8476 Gordon Goodin Lane, Navarre, FL 32566).
