Obituary for Delia Marnelle Weekley (Hanks)

Delia Marnelle Weekley (Hanks)
Delia Marnelle Hanks Weekley, 83, of Pace, Florida, went home to be with the Lord early on Easter Morning, Sunday, April 16, 2017. She was educated in public schools and graduated from Pensacola State College, Pensacola, Florida; Trinity Theological College, Republic of Singapore; and the University of West Florida, Pensacola Florida. She was a loving and faithful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and loyal friend. She was dedicated to her Lord and Savior, her husband, and her family.

Mrs. Weekley married the love of her life, Dr. Wesley Weekley, on February 4, 1949, and they began an amazing adventure together. For over 60 years they worked together in ministry, pastoring and evangelizing in the United States and serving as missionaries to the countries of Asia Pacific, Southern Asia and Eastern Europe. Initially she supported her husband’s ministry through music and being an amazing mother who made a warm and loving home for family, no matter the circumstances or location. Later she established her own ministry as a teacher who taught in Bible colleges and training centers around the world and became a credentialed minister with the General Council of the Assemblies of God.

Mrs. Weekley was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Wesley Weekley; parents, Richard Lamar Hanks and Bessie Mae Thomley Hanks; her siblings Ethel Lee Hanks Harigel, J.D. Hanks, G. L. Hanks, Katie Hanks Beasley, Annette Hanks, Maisie Hanks Haupert, and Vernon Hanks.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Price; her son, Tim (Kimberly) Weekley; grandchildren, Anna Richards, Sarah Richards, Peyton Weekley, and Travis Robbins; many loved in-laws, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and many, many loving friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 21, 2017, at First Assembly of God, Pensacola (4301 Bayou Boulevard), with Rev. Tommy Moore, Rev. Joey Rogers and Rev. David Scruggs officiating.

Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park, with Lewis Funeral Home, Pace, directing.

The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 20, 2017, at First Assembly of God, Pensacola.
